Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CCO?
The Center for Complex Operations (CCO) is a growing network of civilian and military educators, trainers and lessons learned practitioners dedicated to improving education and training for counterinsurgency, stability operations, and irregular warfare (“complex operations”).
What is the CCO Support Center?
The CCO Support Center (CCO SC) is a small staff that facilitates coordination and synchronization among Center members via a variety of programs and activities, including an actively managed web portal, which will be a key tool for growing and sustaining the program.
Will the CCO be competing with my training, education or lessons learned institution by providing training and education?
No. The CCO consists of your training, education and lessons learned institutions. The role of the CCO SC is to facilitate coordination, cooperation and dialogue among the member institutions — the actual practitioners of training, education and lessons learned. The CCO Support Center itself does not provide training or education of any kind.
What services will membership in the CCO provide?
The CCO SC will:
- Act as a clearinghouse for information on complex operations training and education, including the institutions and courses across the community of practice.
- Work with CCO members to identify gaps in complex operations training and education and enable the community to fill them through targeted activities.
- Launch a web portal in spring 2008 that provides information on complex operations curricula and training, as well as blogs and discussion boards featuring subject matter experts
- Catalyze dialogue within the Center to advance complex operations thought and theory
